An autopsy, also known as a post-mortem examination or an obduction, is a medical procedure that consists of a thorough examination of a corpse to determine the cause and manner of a person's death and to evaluate any disease or injury that may be present. It is usually performed by a specialized medical doctor called a pathologist.

A necropsy is another term for post-mortem exam.

The old '90210' in a texting, troublesome new day
Sun, 31 Aug 2008 00:00:00 -0700
Yes, that cult-phenom series is back, with a new cast and a lot more use of personal technology. THERE'S A ginormous silver "N" on the wall behind the center bar at Boulevard3 in Hollywood, which isn't usually there. A blond, pretty adolescent girl vogues for her guests on 15 plasma screens spread throughout the chic two-tier nightclub. Indie pop band Tilly and the Wall has never performed here before, but it does fit in. One hundred or so dolled-up teenagers who wouldn't normally be allowed anywhere near this Sunset Boulevard venue bop to the band.

The huge size of the venue magnifies the speakers, rather than dwarfing them. For its final and by definition historic night the Democrats moved their convention to Denver's Invesco Field -- a move meant to express the party's oneness with the people, but a choice not without pitfalls. There was the danger of seeming too pretentious on the one hand, too rock 'n' roll on the other, but also of diffusing the ricocheting energy one can generate in a contained meeting hall in a huge open space built for sports. And it invited ridicule from an opposition that earlier mocked Barack Obama's Berlin love parade, that cast him as a celebrity without substance.
