They are called such as their preferred style of dress is a pure white tunic, denouncing any fashionable or decorative ties, symbolising their devotion to the Gods. The newest White is Auraya of the White and she is stated to be rthe third most powerful, although that is not questionable. All the White have amazing magical skill and are the most powerful Mages in the Circlian kingdom.
