AXA (, ) is a French insurance company engaged in life, health and other forms of insurance, as well as investment management. The Company operates primarily in Western Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region and, to a lesser extent, in other regions, including in particular the Middle East. AXA has five operating business segments: Life & Savings, Property & Casualty, International Insurance (including reinsurance), Asset Management and Other Financial Services.

AXA run its investment branch through AXA Investment Managers (IM), Formerly Equity & Law, then AXA Equity & Law which subsequently became AXA Investment Managers. AXA IM was most notably headed in th UK by Andrew Bull & Gordon Lacey for many years in the role of Property Directors at the Lincoln's Inn Fields office in London. Both Andrew Bull & Gordon Lacey have subsequently retired from AXA IM.

In its various markets AXA trades under its own name, and also as AXA Sun Life and AXA PPP Healthcare. Despite always being written in upper case, "AXA" is not an acronym, but was just chosen as a memorable name when the company expanded globally.
